Import CSV to WordPress
Step 1: Prepare the CSV file.
Prepare a CSV file with the information you want to import into your WordPress website. The field titles should be on the first line. The titles do not have to match the names of the custom fields you created with the Toolset Types plugin, but it’s better if they do. It will then be easier for you to map the columns of your CSV file to the custom fields of your WordPress website.
The plugin imports one post per row. So enter one post per row, and specify the field values in the following rows, including typical fields like the post title.
Here’s a table of how to get ready to prepare a CSV file.
Step 2: Upload the documents.
The first step is to open the CSV importer and upload the CSV file. You can upload your file using one of four methods. You can select a file from your desktop, from FTP, or a server by inserting an external URL. Automatic delimiter support for “,”, “t”, “|”, “;” and “:” is available.
Method 1 – If you are using a desktop.
From your desktop, upload your CSV file. Four file types are accepted: CSV (.csv), XML (.xml), Text (.txt), and Zip (.zip) (.zip).
Method 2 – FTP/ SFTP/ FTPS upload.
You can use FTP, SFTP, or FTPS to upload your CSV and XML files. To gain access to your file, you must first submit the following information:
Host Name
Host ID
Username
Password
Path to the file.
Method 3 – External URLs.
You can upload files directly from external URLs such as Google Sheets and Dropbox. For Google Sheets, you will need to provide the URL for your CSV file. You have the option to use an XML or CSV file from Dropbox.
Method 4 – You can use the server to upload your CSV or XML file. The data from the server instance can be searched.
Step 3: Importing the data.
Make sure you have installed and activated the WP Ultimate CSV plugin Importer Pro. In Ultimate CSV Importer PRO, switch to the Import/Update tab.
Use the Upload from Desktop function. Select the arrow icon from the drop-down menu.
Select a CSV file.
Wait for the file to finish uploading.
Select your Custom Post Type from the Import each record as an option.
If you want to add new entries, select New Entries.
If you want to change old entries with new values, select Existing Entries.
Continue by pressing the Enter key.
If you are uploading the file for the first time, you will need to set up a field mapping. Create a mapping by clicking the Create button.
Step 4: Model fields.
To make all sections visible, click on the WordPress Fields section to collapse it. The following tabs will be displayed. The following tabs will pop up. If you have taxonomies to import, you will likely use WordPress Fields (1), Types Custom Fields (3), and Terms and Taxonomies (4).
The WordPress fields tab should be expanded. Specify the field mappings for the fields in your CSV file. If a field is not present in your file, do not select it (stick with the -Select- option). If applicable, default values are used, such as the currently logged-in user in the Author field and the current date in the Publication Date field.
Expand the Custom Fields section for types – All Types Fields, associated with the Post Type you selected for this import, are listed in the left column, WP Fields. The headings from the first row of your CSV file will be displayed in the right column, CSV Header. Complete the mapping. If a field is not present in your CSV file, omit it and use the default “-select-” option instead.
Expand the Taxonomies and Terms section. Finalize the mapping.
Select Save Current Assignment as New Template and give it a name. The mapping is saved in this template for future use.
Continue by pressing the Enter key.
It is optional to complete the Media Handling section (and its subsections). For more information, see the plugin’s documentation.
Continue by clicking the Enter key.
It is also not necessary to fill out the Import Configuration section.
Click the Import button.
Wait for the import and mapping to complete before proceeding. If everything went according to plan, you should see the message Import Successfully Completed.
Review some of your posts to see if all field values were imported correctly.
